Great location; right downtown. Dockhands helpful and friendly and checking on boats. Fixed docks with pilings on exterior which made for a long step off the boat if limited mobility. Clean large shower. Nice town. Wifi so weak it might as well have been non-existent.

Would give a higher rating but was bouncy with a strong (20 mph) south wind. Had to dock with two foot rollers. Other aspects of this marina are great. Sterling was very helpful getting us docked and tied up. Wide stable floating docks in great condition. Nice restaurant on site.

I have stayed here several times before but always in the main marina. This time, I was assigned to the north basin which is 0.45 miles from the main marina. The north basin is removed from the laundry, the office, and the restaurant, all of which are located in the main marina. The north basin doesn't seem to be as protected and is mainly used for very large (50 to 200 ft) boats. Electric (50 amp) is $35/night. The lighting at our dock and some others was not working. I expect that the main marina is still 5 stars but because of the remoteness of the north basin, I think 3 stars is more appropriate.

I would give this marina a better rating but the birds are out of control here. I saw some people coming down near the marina and feeding them which probably contributes to the problem. During my 3 day stay, the birds were horrible; I would often see an entire flock on a boat. Other than the birds, it is a nice marina with proximity to many restaurants, good fuel prices and solid docks.

Nice floating docks. Laundry and in-slip pump out. We couldn't raise the dock help on the radio or telephone when we came in, but I suspect that this is not typical. They had lost power earlier in the day and were still recovering. Nice view of cruise ships coming and going. Beautiful wide concrete floating docks and nice long finger slips. Easy access to ocean. Need to transit two bridges and a lock from ICW

I appreciated Shawn Murphy's review. The lock walls are horizontal beams as in a fence or corral. It requires you to be careful that a fender or railing on your boat does not get caught. It is manageable because it is only a 2 foot change in water level but requires you to be paying attention. We found lots of cleats but not at the top horizontal beam. They are scattered on different beams. Like most locks, lifejackets are required. Lockmaster was friendly.

This is our second extended stay here and everything is great. The marina has been completely rebuilt since Hurricane Dorian. Docks are nice, wide stable floating docks. Eric was very pleasant booking our reservation and understanding that schedules change. Austin did a great job helping us dock, tie up and get situated. We found it easy to get to off the ICW and saw plenty of depth following Garmin charts and Aquamaps (>15 feet) on the way in and at the dock. This is not your fancy marina with lots of amenities. It is rustic but beautiful. The owners, Bernard and Elaine were friendly from the moment I called for reservations and throughout our stay. There is not much here. I think they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The food at the restaurant was great and fairly priced. The dock was an easy alongside approach. The dock was sturdy but showing its age. A lot of no seeums when we were there. A different but pleasant experience for a night or two.

Great location. Plenty of nearby restaurants and shops and on the trolley route. Approach from the south through Big Carlos Pass. Nice floating docks; self-serve at dock pumpout. They don't seem to have many transients being mainly dry-dock boats. Well protected from wind by condos. When I made the reservation, I was told to call on channel 77 but we got no answer. I phoned them and got directions to a T-head. The dock hand that met us was incompetent, making what should have been a simple docking complicated yet thankfully uneventful. We asked about electric and he motioned to a box as he walked off to resume moving boats with a fork lift. Well, the pedestal only had 30 amp and we need 50 amp and had been assured when I made the reservation that 50 amp was no issue. I called the office and after about 10 minutes, two other deckhands came down. After they checked that indeed there was no 50 amp, they checked with someone about a splitter which they couldn't seem to find. I offered to move to another slip that had 50 amp which is what we eventually did. We were tucked in the back part of the marina - not particularly scenic but well protected and surrounded by condos. There seem to be very few transients (we may have been the only ones). The other people at the dock were friendly and one even offered to drive us to West Marine to buy a splitter.

Active Captain reviews talk about how great the dockmaster, Steve Sullivan is. We found that he more than lived up to this advanced billing. Because of Hurricane Henri, I had to change my travel plans and he was very cooperative working with my changing schedule. Out in the harbor, I hit something. When I pulled into Newport marina, I told Steve about my problem. He put me in touch with a diver who pulled the props. We drove the props to a repair shop. They were repaired and the diver had them back on the boat two days later. Throughout it all, Steve was very helpful. The marina is gated and right in the heart of downtown Newport. It is a convenient spot to walk to get the trolley tours of the Newport mansions. Nice floating docks.

We went here to avoid Hurricane Henri. They are very sheltered nice floating docks. They advertise that they are a hurricane hole and indeed they are. No boats seemed to sustain any damage even though the eye passed onshore about 20 miles west. Megan did a great job getting us all tied up. Diesel is a fair price. Beautiful area; nice to dinghy around. Easy walk to nice town and groceries. Staff walked the docks during the storm. Restrooms/showers are very nice.

In theory, blueberry muffins and coffee delivered to your boat but the marina staff does not arrive until 9 a.m. First day, we went on our lobster charter at 9 a.m. and the second day, we left the dock about 9 a.m. Nice restaurant on-site and a takeout seafood place next door. Two restrooms; one large luxurious shower; one complimentary washer and one complimentary dryer. Nice area to explore by dinghy using dinghy trail map supplied by marina.

Lots of restaurants, ice cream shops, and two small markets surrounding the marina. There is free wifi which is terrible or you can pay for better wifi at $15/night. It seems that at a daily rate of $4/ft/night + $35/night for 50 amp electric, they should not charge extra for serviceable wifi.

There are seven large white mooring balls with MMA stenciled on balls. They are operated by the Mass Maritime Academy and are presumably free (based on Active Captain Reviews). This review is for the mooring balls. We did not anchor so cannot comment on holding but there seems to be plenty of room to anchor. Just off channel. Easy in and out. No painters so it takes a little ingenuity to attach. We attached lines at the swim platform and then brought them to the bow. Don't seem to be heavily used. On a Thursday, we were the only overnight boat. One other boat tied up for a couple of hours and left. Pleasant location to wait for favorable current to transit east on the Cape Cod Canal.

Great location and plenty of deep water; they pack the boats in here and raft boats. My acrobatic skills have diminished since my youth and based on active captain reviews, I was concerned about climbing over other boats to get off the boat. I called Clif Payne ahead and he arranged for an easy dock spot. Very nice people. Bar and restaurant right at the docks. Different from most marinas in that they don't use VHF (just come near the large American flag and they will direct you); they dock boats in unimaginable positions (but it all seems to work) and no wifi. Pump out boat comes to your boat and is free (tips only). Bring a quarter for the shower. Nice vibe at family owned and run Paynes.

This is a different type of marina. It is right inside the museum grounds. They even give you a sign for your boat to tell people that your boat is not an exhibit and to not board. From museum hours of 10-5, there is not much privacy but dockage comes with free admission to the museum. The museum is expansive and nice with different demonstrations. They supply long fender boards to keep you off the pilings which are on a stone wall. I found getting on and off the boat to the stone wall a little challenging, even dangerous but I am sure that that varies from boat to boat. Good wifi and water depth. Nice restaurant Latitude 41 right next to the marina. Very cool being next to the museum boats. Good to do once to see the museum.

We contacted Portland Boat Works to have a repair done on our sliding doors and were directed to this marina. Paul Barton had two technicians waiting as we docked the boat and they promptly and cheerily performed the repair. We were told that we could stay tied up to the dock. The place was so nice that we stayed three nights. This is a family owned and run marina. Sharon Barton runs the marina and Paul has a large Tiara dealership up river. Everyone was remarkably pleasant. You will not find a cleaner marina. Nice long floating finger piers, beautifully landscaped grounds with spectacular views. Beautiful pool that was never crowded even on the weekend (versus the neighboring Old Saybrook Inn and marina which is used by all the inn guests); small takeout restaurant on-site and larger restaurant next door; two clean washers and two clean dryers. Two minor items that could be improved are (1) there is no courtesy car or courtesy shuttle; we were unable to get a taxi or uber or lyft to take us two miles into town for the Saturday morning farmers market and (2) $40/night for 50 amp electric is more than I am used to paying. All in all, a great place and we hope to be back.

Exterior pilings have sliding rings to tie to that can slide up and down the piling with tide (like tide tamers). We used them but the tide was never high enough to cause them to rise. Diesel fuel available by convenient in slip fueling (although at a slightly higher price than other nearby marinas). Well protected marina with break wall. Beautiful on-site pool. Lots of empty slips in the marina, probably because of the high transient dock fee ($4.50/foot; 10% AGLCA discount brings it to $4.05/foot, still about $1 higher than other marinas). There is an additional $45/day resort fee which entitles you to free use of kayaks, bikes, and paddleboards and towel by the pool. I didn’t feel as if I got good value for my $45 but perhaps if we were traveling with several children, it would be worth it. Several restaurants on site. Wifi slow but steady. Michelle and her staff are some of the best along the ICW. Very friendly and knowledgeable. During their rounds, saw one of the dock hands adjusting a fender on a boat - you don't see that extra care too often.

Nice location; clean restrooms, showers and laundry. Knowledgeable dockhands, especially Rob. Can be a swift current but easy docking if you take their advice. Extra perk to get six Krispy Kreme donuts dropped off on the boat first thing. Good diesel price and easy pump out at fuel dock.

We stayed here for a week in December 2020. Well protected marina and many activities during non-covid times. Ownership seems to go out of their way to try to make boaters happy. Can walk to town for several restaurants (we had fantastic Brunswick stew and beef stew takeout from Nautica Joes). Only three stars because town seemed a little tired and when the wind died out the bugs came out in the marina which is across from a marsh.

Great dockhands. Pretty location and everyone friendly. They put transients on long face dock which makes docking easy. Nice casual restaurant on site. Took a courtesy golf cart into town (quaint but not much in town). They were flexible with us as we adjusted our schedule to take advantage of a good weather day to cross the dreaded St. Andrew sound just to the south.

Long free dock. Dock is aluminum and in very good shape. Current can be strong so be aware when docking. Room for about 6 forty foot boats. Usually other boaters will help you dock. At least one water faucet on the dock. There is a webcam if you wish to look ahead of time, but there has always been room when we were there. Park and boat ramp a short distance away but otherwise pretty remote and nothing in walking distance.

Stayed at the docks. Good and bad here. Great dock help so docking during strong current is not as bad as I had feared. Good that it is right in the center of town so fantastic access to all the tourist sites but also have lots of people walking the docks. Next to Bridge of Lions so bridge noise from passing traffic. Free in-slip pump out on request.

Good dock hands; very large marina. They check you in at the slip saving a trip to the office. Return the gate keys at the fuel dock on your way out by dropping them in a fish net held by dock hand. Wifi was marginal, but I suspect it varies by where you are in the marina. Can walk to several restaurants.

We like staying here because it is close to Fort Pierce inlet and does not have strong current when docking. The high fixed docks can make it difficult to get off your boat (depending on boat configuration)

This year was our fourth year staying for a week plus at OPC. Everything is first class here. When you check in, they give you a bottle of wine. Joe, the dockmaster, stayed late to help us dock. Beautiful wide docks in great shape. Friendly and helpful dock hands check several times a day on the boats. On-site restaurant has good food. Doris's, an Italian bakery and grocery store is a 1.5 mile walk. Easy access to Lake Worth inlet. Lots of repair people on-site. Gary got our horn working again. Only negative is that $25/day for 50 amp is out of line with other marinas.

Helpful dockhands. Great location. Short walk to beach. Offset from ICW so not exposed to ICW wakes. Negatives were construction going on at Swimming Hall of Fame caused a lot of noise and dirt on boat. Fixed docks. We didn't use the pump out but it was self serve and I saw someone struggling to wheel it up and down the dock. Have been to nearby Las Olas and prefer HOF. Haven't stayed at Bahia Mar but it looks like the best of the three with floating docks; also the highest price.

Great holding in sand. Plenty of room. Not a quiet bucolic anchorage with lots of boats partying on the weekend, but it didn't bother us- was actually entertaining. Beautiful night view of the Miami skyline.

Second time here. We like the vibe. Floating docks are nice. We like the restaurant. The dockhands (Pat & David) were very helpful and went out of their way for us. Narrow channel coming in so might be best to issue a securite.
