Marsh Harbour, Bahamas
It can be said that Marsh Harbour is truly the hub of the Abacos: the third-largest city in the Bahamas has pretty much everything the cruising sailor could desire. Daily commercial and charter flights from the United States, Nassau and Freeport make it a great place for crew changes and meet-ups. The airport is a quick taxi ride from the harbor (Marsh Harbour taxis monitor VHF Channel 06). Multiple well-stocked supermarkets, liquor stores, and hardware stores are an easy walk from the marinas and the dinghy landing at the Union Jack dock. Note that most of the restaurants on Marsh Harbour remain closed for hurricane damage repairs. Please contact them directly for most recent status. Do try to visit the Abaco Strong Farmers Market held certain Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at BAIC Park. This is a collaborative community event providing a venue for both backyard and commercial farmers and artisans to sell locally grown produce, fresh seafood, local cuisine, baked goods, crafts, local art and more. With over 40 vendors, the Farmers Market serves as a catalyst for economic growth and entrepreneurship in the region.
