The Parrot Cays

- Depth: 6'-9'

- Description:
The Parrot Cays are a series of five private cays. The northernmost Cay is little more than a barren rock, but it is the site of a flashing red marker that is used by the ferries as a reference point for the approach into Hopetown Harbour. Unlike other marks in the Bahamas the light is well maintained and is usually operational.
In settled conditions anchoring at the Parrot Cays is a nice respite from the boat wakes that affect vessels in the Lighthouse Bay anchorage. In the strong westerly winds during the hours leading up to the passage of a cold front, the anchorage on the east side of the Parrot Cays offers a bit of relative calm. The holding is good, however once the wind shifts into the north it is time to move closer to Elbow Cay.
