Bakers Rock/Tahiti Beach
- Lat / Lon: N 26° 30.215' / W 076° 59.135'
- Depth: 7 feet
- Description:
A large sand patch in about 7-10' provides good holding and makes for a very quick dinghy ride (or paddle board) to Tahiti Beach. A call out on the Cruisers' Net (VHF 68) a day or two in advance may allow one to determine if/when the Thirsty 'Cuda (floating bar & grill) will make its way to the beach. There were numerous small/immature conch around Baker's Rock and a few scattered on the sand & grass banks surrounding the beach. The spines on these—which are ABSOLUTELY ILLEGAL and pointless to harvest—are painful to step on (worse than a LEGO®), so watch where you step. Occasionally there will be an evening bonfire on the beach following sundowners. And every so often entertainment watching people gain their first hard-knock lesson on how quickly the tide can leave their 20'-plus center console immobile for 6-10 hours.
