Yorktown, VA
Yorktown and its battlefields, of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, are part of Virginia's Historic Triangle and are linked to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Settlement by the scenic Colonial Parkway. Explore the site of a George Washington-led 1781 victory over the British with fortifications and exhibits. Although Yorktown is best known as the site where America won its independence, you can be sure that no battles are being fought today in this charming and peaceful riverside village. The walkable shopping and dining area is along the waterside "down the hill" from the battlefields.
You can also take a trolley ride from the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, making several convenient stops along the way including Yorktown Beach and Riverwalk Landing. We barely scratch the service of this historical and culturally rich area. Read more at Visit Yorktown.
