The village of Woods Hole is the most important oceanographic center on the east coast. Major research facilities firmly settled here are NOAA’s NorthEast Fisheries Center, the Marine Biological Laboratory (whose summer labs have produced more than 50 Nobel Laureates) and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. It was researchers from Woods Hole who discovered the Titanic in 1985.
