The 8-mile journey on the Canaveral Barge Canal leads from the ICW to the Atlantic Ocean at the Port Canaveral Inlet, a well-marked, deep ship inlet. The route includes a 3-mile cut through Merritt Island.
The cut is very scenic with beautiful natural flora and an abundance of marine and wildlife. If you have some time this interesting side trip leads right into the Canaveral launch facilities and is worth the effort.

As you walk around, look for "Cocoa Village Loves ICW Cruisers" anchor logos in store windows. Those establishments will offer some type of perk for cruisers! Take a stroll down the scenic Riverfront Park with beautiful views of the Indian River. This is a great place to relax and take in the scenery after enjoying a meal at one of the many local restaurants. There are several companies offering boat tours of the Indian River, allowing visitors to see dolphins, manatees and other wildlife.
