Good protection in most directions, but some exposure to the south, which we didn't mind a breeze in hot weather. Very peaceful, and scenic. There wasn't much boat traffic from the ramp, even on the weekend. We took our dinghy to the top of the creek which ends right in the town of Mathews. This should only be done on a rising tide, as the dinghy will ground out otherwise. We also were able to take our bikes ashore by dinghy to the dock at the boat ramp and ride two miles to town. The town is very picturesque with good restaurants, two grocery stores, a hardware store and a Laundromat.

We stopped for the daytime only for a very nominal charge, then anchored in Sarah Creek for the night. Unless the wind is blowing hard, this is a great place to pull in to see all of the sights. With the strong current, the dockmaster will help you get your boat in. In addition to the Battlefield, the American Revolutionary War Museum to the north of the village is fantastic and well worth the entrance fee. The trolley transits to both locations, as well as by the historical "village". The restaurant in the hotel has great breakfasts.

In spite of the moorings there is still plenty of room to anchor. Holding is good, as we held just fine in 25 knot winds from the south. Exposed to the north. Grocery store and bagel shop about 5 blocks away from the dinghy dock, on the main road.

That street will lead to shopping and restaurants, approximately 1 mile to the south. But, with the anchoring restrictions that are enforced by the Annapolis Harbormaster, it is just about impossible to find a space large enough to anchor in this creek. We instead, anchored just outside the mouth of the creek, to the NW of the entrance channel, although this anchorage is exposed to the north and to the east, as well as to large wakes.

Draft: 5.0'Overall Rating:4Holding:5Wind Protection:4Current Flow:5Wake Protection:4Scenic Beauty:3Ease of Shopping:2Shore Access:5Pet Friendly:5Cell Service:5WiFi:4This creek has good holding and protection except from the south, but you can go up the creek a little farther and have protection from all directions. The kayak rental dock at Quiet Waters Park has a designated area for dinghy tie-up. You can walk or bike through the park to reach a Laundromat, 2 boat chandleries, restaurants, and grocery store, approx. 1.5 to 2 miles from the creek. The anchorage is peaceful, except for summer when the packs of kids pass by on kayaks, or weekend boaters crowd in to party.

Not particularly scenic, except for the "flavor" of a fishing village. Dinghy to the marina for $10, which includes marina facilities access, except for pool. 1-2 mile walk to shopping. Marina staff very helpful.

Today, April 16,2018, I had a very disappointing experience with the fuel attendant at this marina. He was ill-mannered. short tempered, and verbally abusive. As a result, we cast off and took our business elsewhere.

Went into this marina 4-10-18. First made several phone calls at mid-morning to verify fuel availability, got no answer. We entered at low tide, our boat drawing 4'9", and had no difficulty, but our chart did not agree with channel marks. We arrived at the dock without incident. Fuel attendant could not reconcile the controlling depth of the channel with our experience of coming through; would only say that she recommends that no boat drawing more than 2'6" enter unless 1/2 tide or greater, regardless of how we addressed the question. Fuel price was the lowest in the area, price of ice within normal pricing.

Dinghy into state park to walk hiking trails or access beach, just a short walk away. Snorkeling is good in the shallower areas of the bay. Seek out the sandy areas to drop the anchor as there is some grass in the area. Not good protection though, if the wind kicks up from SE, E, NE, or N. No shopping in the area.

A shopping center is across the street with a Laundromat, Dollar store and a few fast food restaurants. A grocery store is on the highway 1.25 miles to the north. We rode out a 30 knot thunderstorm from the west with no problem, but it is very open to fetch from the north to east. There is quite a bit of highway noise.

The park has great walking trails and the Education Center in the park is worth the walk. There is a nice bike/ walking trail along the main road all the way to the lock. Supplies can be found in town, but it is a long 3.5 bike ride or walk. Pretty scenery. Some wakes from the fishing boats.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The boater's lounge is nice with Wifi and a television. Clean showers and the washers and dryers are in great shape. The marina has a nice pool, and a courtesy car to get you to town, and to shopping which is 2-3 miles away. Nice place to stop.
