Four historic harbors–Marblehead, Salem, Beverly and Manchester–line Salem Sound, a 4-mile-wide break in the shore located to the northeast of Boston Harbor’s entrance. Although all four began as commercial fishing villages, they have evolved into popular recreational harbors with dockage, moorings, marine suppliers and a wealth of shoreside attractions.
