It's across from the larger, more popular Horseshoe Bend anchorage. Quiet, not near any road. You can tuck in quite close to land for protection from wind on the south, east, and west. There is a tiny beach -- look for the open wooden fence beyond it -- to take your dogs for a potty break. (Please clean up after your dog, folks!) Cell service was good on Verizon. Good holding in mud. Not much traffic this far up the river so no noticeable wake.

Easy dingy to St. Mary's College, can use their plastic dingy dock north side that has cleats, let manager know. There is no stores in St. Mary's for provisions, a very small 'tuk' shop at the college. Make sure you go to the Great Hall to eat, like going back to College. Bakery is also great.

It took 2 times to set the hook. There wasn't much wind at all and we swung around most of the night. There is one house on the shore point with a small farm. We were treated to watch the St Mary's Sailing team practice most of the afternoon and the Crew team rowing during the dinner hour. This is a peaceful anchorage.

The sounds of spring birds and a beautiful sunrise were a nice addition. We did have to anchor twice as we couldn't get the hook to catch the first time.
