Egg Island

Description:
There is an anchorage off of the small beach on the west side of Egg Island that provides good holding and reasonable protection from easterly winds. The anchorage is wide open to all other directions and in winds above 15 knots from any direction there will be a swell in the anchorage. The anchorage will be of interest to boaters wishing to get an early start from the north end of Eleuthera to Abaco, but do not wish to tackle the notoriously tricky cuts along the Devils Backbone. In settled conditions this is a pretty, secluded anchorage that provides great sunsets over the NE Providence Channel.

Great anchorage with east wind close to island with good holding in sand. Several other boats while we were there 16 to 22 per evening. Close to cut to go to Spanish Wells about 7 to 8 miles away.

Anchored here in a NE wind and it was very bumpy. The reef didn't knock down as much of the swell as I would have hoped. E and SE would be fine. Found good holding in sand at 12'. Easy in and out of Anchorage, lots of room for many boats.

Stopped here to hang out for the day. Room here for many boats. We anchored here as a resting point before heading to Berry Islands. Swings are fun on the sand bar and several small beaches to explore.

Stopped here to stage for a run to the Abacos, protected from a east wind but open to the west. It was a easy in and out for the next day's sail.
