Bottom line… DO NOT USE ALM except as a last resort.
Background… Since being acquired by an investment group a couple years ago, the marina has become very unfriendly to boaters. The focus is on maximizing profit at the expense of customers. It began with extremely hostile treatment of a very vibrant live-aboard community that has now driven most away. Rates have skyrocketed to fund unnecessary improvements aimed at creating a "Resort" marina purely for the possible profit. They've gone through 3 dockmasters, repeated problems with laundry, bathroom and shower facilities, and closed the pool several times because they couldn't get lifeguards. Until these clueless owners learn more and stop abusing boaters, steer clear.Business Response:

Nice marina, pretty packed in. No longer courtesy car, great pool, great laundry, very clean bathhouse. Now $3.75/ft with only a few transient slips. There's not much around but the water taxi is here, grocery store within biking distance, as is West Marine. Now connected to Coinjock marina so they gave us a 20% discount for staying there. Don't know if it's reciprocal. Unfortunately we had to leave early to catch a weather window and they were unwilling to credit us the last of four days slip fees.

We stayed here for one night while attempting a speedy cruise to the northeast to tend to time-sensitive matters. ALM is right off the Bay and a very convenient stop. And the price is right at $2/ft, much lower than we saw elsewhere in Annapolis, with free pump out service at the easy in/out fuel dock. While we were just passing through and didn't take advantage of most amenities, the property is clearly well maintained and well managed. We did cool off in the pool and use the courtesy car to do some reprovisioning at the nearby Giant. The car has seen some better years but was readily available and got us where we needed to go. The greatest thing we experienced at this marina is the outstanding customer service. Dusty made us feel like we were his most important customers during our stay and was able to arrange much-needed prop cleaning on short notice on a Sunday evening. He also was ready with other options in the event the diver was unavailable. He then followed up the next morning to make sure all was well, and it was. We plan to make this a regular stop as we make our seasonal trips between the north and south. The 5-star rating indicates that while this isn't a deluxe property, the customer service, proximity to the Bay and price are all top notch.

This marina is the only one in the Back Creek area that has fuel and pump out, which is why we originally picked this place. We really made the right choice! It doesn't have a lot of transient slips, but seems to be one of these hidden gems. Excellent bath house (cleaner than many hotel rooms we've been in), a loaner car that is not too decrepit, and an on-site laundry. We didn't use the laundry, but instead bundled everything into the loaner car and had Bay Ridge Laundromat (about 6 minutes away) do same day wash and fold. The loaner car is also good to take you to Rocco's Pizza, Giant Grocery, West Marine and Annapolis Smokehouse (all in the same area). We used Uber to tour downtown Annapolis and the Annapolis Maritime Museum. There is an off leash area for dogs, as well as other walking paths. There are fixed docks and almost everyone backs in. The staff is ready to guide you in and take lines. We planned to spend just 2 days, but ended up there 5 days, waiting for the weather window to continue north.

Good local Marina near the entrance to Back Creek. Great grassy area to walk dogs and a very long bike ride to boat stores and groceries. Tree lined 2 lane road, shady and courteous drivers.
