What a lovely experience at Urbanna Town Marina! We live across the Rappahannock River from Urbanna and took friends to Urbanna for lunch. We called as we approached the marina to ask if they had a T-head on which we might tie up for several hours. The dockmaster immediately invited us in and said that he would be down directly to assist with lines. The tie up is free under many circumstances, the facilities attractive and well-maintained, and the dockmaster and his assistant (wife?) lovely and helpful. We couldn't have had a nicer experience. AND he complimented our new boat!

Third time here, a little quieter than the Oyster Festival weekend last November. Restrooms and laundry improved but still the same fixed docks with short finger piers every other slip. Depending on your boat's design, it can make boarding and disembarkation very tricky. Otherwise nice place, may have to go in bow first in the first few slips due to shallow water near the dock.
In addition to the normal trash drop off bins, they do supply recycling bins too. Conscientious cruisers who like to recycle now have a place to drop off those items as well.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

If you're looking for a marina with a pool and a tiki bar, this is not the place for you. However if you're looking for a marina that's a couple of hundred yards away from the downtown of a charming, friendly and historic city, then this is worth a few nights stay.
Ubanna is the home of the John Mitchell map. The map is in the visitor center/museum that's 100 yards from the docks. If you haven't heard of this map or of John Mitchell, google him. This is a must see if you have any interest in early America.
Three are several 250 year old houses being lived-in today, one of therm by the same family that buiil the house in the mid 1700's.
All of the people we met here were more than friendly. I needed a part from the hardware store three miles away, so the dockmaster drove me there in her own car.
Local boaters kept offering us rides to town even though it was only 200 yards away because the temps were in the 90's.
All in all, tthis is a town that should hot be missed.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Urbanna is a great little town and the town marina is delightful. Well protected and clean, it's a short walk to town up the hill. Staff is always helpful and ready to assist. Easy in and out and plenty of room for your dinghy or tender if you want to take it off the boat. 17 miles up river from the Bay, but worth the trip if you're looking for small town ambience off the beaten path.
