Winter pool depths were shallow. We saw 2.2' under the hull within the marina. Stay in the marked channel all the way into the marina. Marina staff were friendly and accomodating. Reserving and using the courtesy van made shopping easy. Without the courtesy van there is not much to do in this area except check out the hiking trails. The daily cinn-i-buns make up for any shortcomings experienced here. We're definitely stay here again on our way through. Next time we'll make sure to plan a visit when the restaurant is open.

    WG Editor Comment:

Pool level on 11/15/2024 was 355.49. Winter pool is 354.0.

Pebble Isle Marina was a pleasant stop. The dockmasters worked hard to fit several last-minute Looper's on their transient dock, were very friendly folks, and provided coffee and Danish the next morning. The maria restaurant was closed for the season, but the dockmasters opened the outside eating area for the Looper's to have docktails. The floating docks were very stable. The restrooms/showers are at the top of the hill, but as we did not use them, we cannon comment on their condition. The grounds are very pet-friendly. Be careful to follow the marina's buoys entering the marina from the lake. They accurately mark the channel, but differ from the chart.

We had a fresh water leak we had to repair on Sunday. They even had all the parts we needed to complete the repair……great people!

First rate marina. The staff is super helpful and offers true Southern Hospitality. The Cinnamon Rolls are a legend. There is a fair amount to do in the immediate area like the Loretta Lynn museum and National Parks. Use the secondary markers to enter the marina - Navionics will try to direct you via the main marker, which is incorrect. Confirm this with the marina prior to entering. Solid floating docks, electric and shower / restroom facilities. Cell service in the area is difficult.

Great marina! We called on Christmas Eve to get last minute reservations because the next day was going to be bad weather. They got us a slip and made sure someone was there to help us tie up. The store and restaurant were closed due to the holiday but the showers were hot! I highly recommend!

This is a fabulous stop for loopers or probably anyone taking a river cruise. They give fast response on Dockwa. Good prices. Billy, the senior harbor master, is so kind. He stayed late on a Sunday to help us fuel. At 8:30am the next day he delivered his famous home-made cinnamon rolls. He will bend over backwards to help you. There isn't really a town to go to, but it's bucolic and serene. I am so glad we stopped here.

Low river levels made for a tricky marina entry but as long as you follow the channel markers you should be fine. Depth at the dock was 7'. Billy Bob is friendly and attentive. Laundry is available for $2/load. Restaurant on site was closed for the season. There's a courtesy car available but we didn't use it.

We enjoyed our stay here. Channel is well marked and transient dock is easy to access and close to everything, although it is exposed to north and west winds. Fuel, ships store, laundry, clean bathrooms and showers, shared with RV park. Restaurant on site, but was closed for the season. Billy, the Harbor Master, went out of his way to see that we had what we needed. Courtesy van available. Marina is adjacent to Johnsonville Historic Park State Park, which we enjoyed exploring on foot.

Very nice Marina manager and fuel was 4.099 a gallon. Nice little store and very helpful. AGLCA AND BOATUS DISCOUNT! $1 a foot. Didn't stay docks are wooden older not maintained.

Spent one night here in May 2023, on a trip to move my boat down the rivers.

The channel in from the river is well marked. Follow the small buoys that float low in the water. Navionics Sonar Charts showed 7 feet or more nearly all the way to the fuel dock. There was plenty of water for my 4 foot draft boat.

The marina was quiet when I was there. They put me on the long (300 foot) floating pier to the left of the fuel dock. Easy in and out, with a side tie. 50amp AC, and water at the dock. Diesel was available at their fuel dock. The marina offered a discount for AGLCA or BoatUS members.

Washers/dryers and showers on shore up the hill toward the on-site RV park, but I did not use. Courtesy car available. They suggested Tequila Johns about 3 miles away as the closest restaurant. OK Mexican food, but it is really a bar that offers some food. We were there on a night with live music – a guy with guitar singing country music. The space is small, and the music was too loud to hold a conversation.

On my trip, the onsite bar/restaurant was not open.

The entrance to Johnsonville State Historic Park is just outside the Marina gate.
Cellphone service was "iffy" but available in my slip.

The setting is peaceful. I liked the place.

On 11/20/2022, I hit a large, submerged object on the Tombigbee River (~mile 91) that disabled my boat. I was able to limp the boat approximately 5 hours (25 miles) to Bobby's Fish Camp, but no farther. My crew and I spent the next day on our phones trying to find someone to tow the boat approximately 120 miles to the closest marina equipped with a Travel-Lift. Even the CEO of one of the national towing companies, of which I am a member, contacted me and apologized for not being able to find me assistance.

Finally, we contacted Bob and Mark McMackins of Pebble Isle Marina and explained our situation, along with the fact that we had contacted every marina and towing service in a 300 mile radius of us with no luck. They agreed to gather their crew, towboat and extra gas cans, trailer their towboat 350 miles to my location and then tow my boat the 120 miles to a marina that could perform the repairs. We arrived at the Marina the day before Thanksgiving after 16 straight hours on the tow.

I can't say enough good things about these guys and the assistance they provided me in a desperate situation. This was a huge ask by me and a herculean effort by them. They completed the tow in a very safe and professional manner and I will be forever thankful.

These gentlemen could have easily said NO just like the others we contacted, but they saw an opportunity to help a fellow boater and started taking action. Words in a review really can't express my gratitude.

    Thanks again guys.

Pebble Isle Marina in New Jacksonville was a delightful stop. Bob, the owner is very friendly and caught our lines. The marina has a nice long floating cement transient dock, clean bathrooms, showers and one washer/drier and free internet. The restaurant is closed for the season. We borrowed the courtesy car and drove to the visitor center and bought provisions at Walmart. We didn't have time to see the nearby Loretta Lynn and Patsy Kline museums, nor the civil war battleground.

A very nice marina. Wonderful staff. Good courtesy car, Good docks, power, and water. Restrooms are basic. Showers and dumpster are a bit of a hike (shared with the RV park.) Resturant was closed for the season (Oct '22).
Entrance is a little tricky but OK if you honor their bouys. Do NOT try to shortcut.
Dockside we show 4.7 feet under the keel. Dinng and shopping are not walkable.

Although the restaurant was closed for the season, it is a good stop by most measures. Great fuel price. BoatUS discount on dockage. Adequate showers and restrooms. Courtesy car (van actually) for running to Walmart. Docks in pretty good shape with good 240V/50A power. Pretty setting. Be sure to closely follow the private markers in from the river as it shoals quickly outside the channel. At winter pool the shallowest water we saw was near the fuel dock at 6 feet. Nice selection of marina branded clothing in the ship's store.

Staff is friendly and helpful and they still bake cinnamon rolls for boaters in the morning! We did not eat at the Grey Heron grill this time but we did two years ago and it was good.

Channel into the marina is very well marked. Follow their buoys and don't exit the channel until after the last one. 10+ feet in the Channel. After leaving the channel it gets shallower on the way to the fuel dock and transient dock. We churned a lot of mud but it all seems to be soft silt. We sat overnight in about 6.5 ft.
