Milford, approximately 4 miles east of Stratford, is an attractive summer resort and yachting center located at the mouth of the Wepawaug River. Milford has an easy-to-enter, well-protected but crowded harbor with good marinas that cater to transient mariners. Captain Kidd and other pirates are purported to have once roamed these waters and to have left behind buried treasure.
