As you pass by the northern tip of Staten Island, the entire panorama of New York City is spread before you. On the New Jersey side is a condominium complex, Port Liberté, which is reminiscent of French canals and countryside. A well-marked channel leads into the canals. Ahead, rising ever higher on the New York side, are the densely packed skyscrapers of the Lower Manhattan financial district. To the west is the Statue of Liberty, looking serene and lovely at 300-feet tall on her pedestal on Liberty Island.
