Marina Review for Mobjack Bay Marina

Everyone says you could spend a whole summer cruising the Chesapeake and not see it all - so true! If you like a quiet, out of the way place, in a safe, protected and beautiful setting, this is a great marina (nice anchorages nearby, too). New owners as of 2 years ago (as we understand), Bill and Marissa are very nice, good people. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, solid docks. We are a 36' Trawler powerboat with 4' draft, needing a 1-2 night transient slip. Most of the boats appear be to long term sails but we were very comfortable. We didn't use other amenities such as ship store, fuel, pump out, charcoal grill, or fire pit but all are on site (no laundry). They also have a lift and allow self-service work. It didn't feel like we were in a boatyard though. The charted approach appears shallow; we didn't see less than 7', about 2 hours before low tide. Best communication with owner is via text 804.725.7245.

Free Dock Review for Bellamy Harbor Park

Very nice canalside park with a lot of grass and trees; park restrooms and shower were clean and found about .25 mi down the walking path (best to take path and go under the bridge, facilities are in a pavilion up the stairs on left). About one mile walk to groceries, restaurants and laundry. The new docks on the west end are fixed (not floating) with cleats, rings and enough room for three looper boats. We had 7.7 feet at the middle spot but it quickly shallows at the far west end by the red ATONS where there is a small floating dock for personal watercraft. The shower room was locked but we found a friendly park staff who had no problem unlocking it for our stay. Lots of people fishing but no one catching. Fort Stanwix was very worth the short walk and a couple hours to learn about history and the importance of this travel corridor before it became part of the Erie Canal. No goose poop here…at least not today! Jun 4-5, 2023
