Anchorage Review for Hampton River Downtown

The main constraints were crab pots throughout and the channel. There was one small mono permanently anchored and room for maybe two other boats. Holding was excellent through 30kt winds during TS. City marina has a dinghy dock for seeing the town which does have pleasant offerings. I'm not sure if the anchorage description of anywhere past R20 is accurate since there is a marked channel in that area which is the turning basin for the large river tour boat that docks at the city docks. Best to anchor E of the two small red channel markers to stay out of it's way.

Marina Review for Kingsmill Marina

I want to give it more stars because of the resort amenities available with a marina stay, but it was disappointing. The marina feels more like an amenity for the resort guests than a real marina. No laundry or bath house and the staff wasn't terribly informed or eager to answer questions about the resort. Shuttle is now through a service and costs $12/p a day, which was not what the dock master said when I asked before booking. The breakwater offers no protection to the marina. Any wind with a southern direction sent the entire marina rocking. The pools were nice. Fitness center and spa were being renovated. Only tried the Mill and the food quality was akin to a cafeteria. Current price was a flat rate of $185 a night with a resort fee on top of that and was not justified.

Free Dock Review for Wilmington City Docks - Market Street Landing

There were two sections of docks submerged but the rest were floating and appeared to be in good shape. I'd guesstimate room for 7-8 boats at this one, didn't venture on to inspect the other two city docks. Posted signs clearly indicate the docks are for dawn to dusk use. It's great when towns offer amenities like this to enable cruisers to explore. Wilmington was fun to walk and worth the short detour up river.

Anchorage Review for Key West - Wisteria Island Northwest

Draft: 4.5'Overall Rating:2Holding:4Wind Protection:1Current Flow:4Wake Protection:1Scenic Beauty:2Ease of Shopping:4Shore Access:4Pet Friendly:4Cell Service:3As mentioned in the other reviews the anchorage is chock-full of all sorts of boats, including submerged and above water wrecks. There were also quite a few moored vessels, not sure where these moorings come but they seem to be long term. Holding was fine in 15-18kt winds. Wind protection is only from the east. Winds during our stay were ESE-SE and there was a constant roll, which worsened during the day once traffic started moving. The wind waves were bad even with us being tucked in fairly close to shore. Shore access is via Key West Bight Marina for $8/day, roughly a mile away.

The shoal shown on the charts extends further north than is indicated on the charts. Depth fell to 5' while crossing the shoal both times at low tide. Navigate with caution.
