The dock near the low bridge has a beautiful park with live oaks and sandy paths. Lots of dogs playing when we were there and doggy station (go left when you come off the dock area). The restrooms were clean and had a filtered water machine. Trash cans were plentiful. Not that we would ever have considered landing at Epworth by the Sea, but we did notice it was gated and the gate was closed at the little dock there.

The weather got severe, tornado warnings issued the second day. My guess were we had winds of 45kts+ during that storm. Anchor held tight through it all! Not much wind protection here but holding is excellent. Free dock is around the corner to land a dinghy. Church bells add a nice touch the anchorage.

This anchorage is preferable to the one south of Morningstar marina as it more protected from a S blow (in fact this is preferable to the marina in a storm). There is shore access at the 2-hour free dock just north of the bridge. We've also gone ashore for a short dog walk at the Epworth-by-the-Sea center (don't know if that's okay but we did it anyways).

Anchored here a few times. Current here but good holding. Some wakes during day but mostly quiet at night. Though they have been bringing work crew back to shore here for the Golden Ray salvage operation. Room for several boats. You can dingy to public park with dock a short run near bridge. Had several peaceful nights here. Good cell phone and tv reception.

Hold was great and some bugs were not. All in all would gladly anchor here again. Peaceful with a few friendly locals coming by in transit or checking traps. Church bell’s ringing adds a comforting touch. Beautiful. Wind protection is not so much but holding proved good with depths ranging from 15-24’. Close proximity to Morningstar Marina if you need land access.
