Being so close to the channel and bridge, we expected to have wake and noise issues. We had neither. We didn't have a single boat pass by after we arrived at 1700. We rowed ashore to Jekyll Island beach about 75 yd from our anchoring spot to do a little exploring but didn't do anything else.

Others were on the East side closer to the boat ramp but we chose the west side at the creek mouth. Great anchorage and easy access to the boat ramp or the marina dinghy dock which we chose. They charged us $10 but it was a shorter scooter ride to downtown, probably a good hike on foot.

Nice protection except due south, but even that's not bad. The boat ramp has trash cans and a bathroom open 24/7. About 1 1/2 miles to Dairy Queen, and a small grocery. We got waked by a large tug in the middle of the night. For GA, the current isn't bad here.

Luckily it is a mud bottom and was able to push the keel through with power.
Holding is excellent here! Plenty of room for a lot of boats.
Stay closer to the ICW if you have a deep draft vessel.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

The Dock Master told us if needed we could pay a $20 Dinghy fee and have access to all of their marina amenities. We used the boat launch directly across the waterway for shore access instead. We weathered a pretty severe thunderstorm with high winds overnight and held without a problem.

It's close to the Jekyll Island Marina. We got gas there and they gave us the wifi password. However it didn't reach to pur boat but maybe to the boats a little closer in. I walked into town to the Jekyll Market to restock and it was a mile walk from the marina.

Great spot to enjoy the island. The marina lets you leave the dinghy there for $20 and you get; free laundry, use of bicycles or golf cart, restaurant on site. Short walk to shopping and ocean beach. May become an annual stop. Dockmaster Chris is awesome.
