After anchoring for the night, port engine wouldn't start. Called several marinas and Hinckley was the only one available. Mechanic met us at the dock, checked the engine and blew out clog in fuel hose. Saved our trip. Great service and quick response.

We needed regular engine maintenance on our Volvo-Penta D4-320I-G. Dustin asked us to arrive early in the afternoon the next day to see what parts we needed. They wanted to have all parts for the work on hand. Bob made a list of part numbers. He even made us a copy. The following morning Timothy was on board. He had everything completed by 11:30. He answered all questions willingly. He has great knowledge and skills. We definitely recommend them highly. They also have a courtesy car we used to re-provision.

We needed the drive gear swapped from a leaky seawater pump we were replacing to a new seawater pump. I didn't have the tools needed to swap a large drive gear. When I called Hinckley to ask if they could help, the service manager, James Peters, said they were pushed out several weeks for work, but said he would work the job in over the next few days if I could drop off the pump. I dropped off the pump off, and James called me back a few hours later telling me that it was done. We can't say enough good things about how positive our interaction was with the staff, and how grateful we are for Bob (the mechanic who swapped the drive gear) for working our job in so quickly so we could get back on the waterway!

We had several small projects completed during our stay in Dec/Jan 2022. All of the staff and trades folks were very professional. Due to the holidays, difficulty getting some parts and shipping issues - a common theme these days - we stayed a bit longer that we hoped but found everyone very accommodating and we enjoyed exploring Savannah. As other folks have noted, the amenities were great for a working yard too. Highly recommend!

We started off on a miscommunication but built trust in their expertise and service with each interaction. All of the work done was great and completed in a timely manner. They allowed us to leave the boat at their dock while we got everything restocked from 2 months on the hard. Even though it is a working boat yard they have good guest amenities. Bathrooms with showers were private and clean, newer front load washer and dryer were free and the use of the loaner car was greatly appreciated. Wonderful staff, knowledgeable mechanics. Pricey yes, but you get what you pay for. Very satisfied.

The Hinckley Savannah yard must be one of the most incompetent yards I have experienced in 35 years of boating. This yard required 9 months to complete a 2-month job and then it was wrong. Installed new engines, new transmissions, service genset, installed new sanitation pumps and hoses, fuel polishing, rebuild racors, and cleaning/painting engine room and bilges. Boat was returned filthy, had been left open for most of 9 months, port engine vibrated so badly I had to remove glass shelves in the refrigerator to prevent breakage. Many of the services were either not performed or performed incorrectly. Upon delivering the vessel with the excessive vibration, the GM said, "you will need to file a warranty claim".

Cummins' vibration engineers discovered wrong engine isolators, engine isolators installed incorrectly, and engines were not aligned. Hinckley Savannah tried multiple times over 6 months to correct, to no avail. Despite being BILLED and PAID for services, genset did not work and had not been serviced, bilges were not cleaned and painted, sanitation pumps were not installed, fuel hoses were installed backwards, chafe protection was non-existent, racors had no filters, and retaining screws and bolts were ether loose or without washers and nuts. Mechanics are incompetent. Project managers are totally disorganized, and GM's sole function is to placate customers and obtain payment before customers recognize the poor quality.

After splashing boat and tied to Hinckley dock, I was approached by multiple people who were on the water the same day, advising me to go elsewhere that Hinckley Savannah was an extremely poor yard. Unfortunately, their warnings were 9 months too late. My experience was not unique.

The poor service does not account for the significant damages to the vessel, including scratched cabinetry, diesel stains on cabin sole, scratches and gouges throughout cabin teak and holly sole, etc.

After 9 months delay in completing project, 6 months in failed attempts to correct vibration, I contacted corporate office and threatened litigation. I offered third party contractor to correct (at Hinckley expense) or another Hinckley yard to correct. Brought boat to Hinckley Stuart….fantastic yard. Corrected excessive vibration by aligning port engine. Also discovered and corrected improper alignment of starboard engine….all within 24 hours. Do not assume Hinckley name indicates quality at all locations. I highly recommend Hinckley Stuart. Do not use the Hinckley Savannah yard.

    Marina Management Response:

I thank Mr. Phil Eastman for taking the time to write a review. Our goal at Hinckley is to always provide the best service experience possible. In this case we fell short and for that I apologize. All customer interactions, even our less than positive ones, are opportunities to learn from so we have made changes to prevent this from occurring again.

Hinkley Yacht Services in Savannah, GA is a hidden gem. Even though it is a working marina, we were pleased with amenities that only the big and more expensive marinas provide. We had a tie along on their dock which is on the W. River. This part of the river is also a no wake zone. Which means the boaters come through somewhat slowly.
Hinkley Yacht Services provide, as part of your stay, self serve pump out on the docks, OnSpot internet (which worked flawlessly), ice, free newer front loading washer and drier, very nice bathroom and shower rooms, and a nice loaner car for short trips to the grocery or hardware store - both of which are less than two miles away.
The folks here are all about customer service and how can we help you. I will be sure to stop here the next time I’m in Savannah.

Stayed here one night. They helped us out of a jam as we needed a place for the night due to bad weather and everywhere else was full. The people are very nice. Facilities are great. A previous reviewer said that they hardly noticed they were in a boatyard. I must respectfully disagree, I felt like I was most definitely in a boatyard and not a marina. You have to go through almost all of the boatyard to get to the gate to meet an Uber driver. Good place to stay for the night and/or repairs, but there are better facilities if you want an extended stay in Savannah.

Brand new floating docks and facilities, outstanding shore facilities, free laundry, courtesy car, $10 Lyft ride to downtown, dining nearby and amazing friendly & helpful staff - you almost forget you're at a boat yard!

We stopped in to redeem some free nights stays we had won at a MTOA event - and ended up extending another week we loved it so much.

We did request a diver for a bottom cleaning upon arrival, and it was like concierge service getting it done. And we attended to some minor repairs of our own (after asking if we could hire the yard for them) - and it was amazing to have access to parts needed & helpful guidance offered.

After talking with others on the dock who were in for major service and interacting with the staff - we wouldn't hesitate to return here for our boat services in the future.

Had major service work done here on our Grand Banks 46 in Apr-May 2017, and returned to have boat hauled here Sep-Dec 2017, and then addtl work in Jun 2018 — the management, staff, and yard technicians are all true professionals, and terrific people in addition to being fabulous at what they do! If you have boat problems, and/or want varnishing or other cosmetic work done and done right, this is where you want to come!!!

Hinckley is the premier service center of Savannah. This is where to get your boat work done. They are determined to satisfy you in every way. I've had service here on my diesel to replace a rear oil seal and they were on my boat minutes after I docked and ordered the spare part that same day. I would recommend this marina without reservation for any type of marine repairs.
