The marina itself is just ok. We were on a mooring ball and used our dinghy to dock. They have water at the dock but no electric. They said they were "between contracts" The staff were friendly but did not help tie up when we arrived. We were required to check in before going to the mooring ball which was really an unnecessary step. The shower/bathhouse is shared with the sailing school and not very clean. Luckily there is a locked gate at the dock. The current is very swift. The view is beautiful, esp at night when the Washington bridge is lit up. We were very disappointed in the Dyckman "town" area. Very run down. Lots of homeless, loiterers, smoking weed and a even a stoner publically urinating.

Great price to stay in NYC! Short walk (a few blocks)to subway, restaurants, groceries, liquor store, The Cloisters and more! Free street parking for friends to visit. Not for big boats. We're 42' and that's about the max for the mooring balls. Louis is very knowledgeable and helpful, call to see if they can accommodate. We were a bit of a dinghy ride to the dock, with a locked gate 24/7. Sailing club share the restrooms. No other amenities, but we loved Dyckman Street and all it offered. Couldn't have afforded to stay a week (1 night free) at a marina!

Mooring is at a good price. You have shower and free laundry... don't think about a 5 star hotel. It's a cheap place and you will shower in a not so clean shower. For 40$ it's ok for me. You will feel every wakes the boat do on this mooring. You will have acces to the MTA 10 minutes walk. You have a grocery store at about the same walking distance. Quiet but anchoring on the other is better and less noisy.

Just dropped someone off at this NY Parks Dept public marina. Didn't even tie up, crew member leaving the boat was approached by Park Dept. employees and was shown in writing there is a drop off fee charging x $ amount for the length of the vessel even though it never tie up.
