The quiet river town of La Belle dates back to the early 1800s. The Swamp Cabbage Festival is held in La Belle during the last full weekend in February. The festival includes live music, a parade, a rodeo, a fishing tournament and a Swamp Queen & Princess Pageant. Swamp cabbage (also known as hearts of palm) is the growing part of the sable palm and joins alligator as a local delicacy.
La Belle is also known as the “Honey Capital.” The Harold P. Curtis Honey Company (863-675-2187) is located directly across from the LaBelle Heritage Museum (863-674-0034) on the south side of the bridge. The company maintains about 1,000 beehives and will permit you to sample different types of honey (including Orange Blossom, Palmetto, Wildflower, Seagrape, and Mangrove) in the store, which also carries honey candy and candles.

The Waterway Guide Team has gained extensive boating knowledge over the years, and now we are sharing all of the tips, skills and tools we’ve picked up along the way!
