St. Joseph is on the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail, which includes 21 wineries from New Buffalo to Holland. The proximity to Lake Michigan provides the ideal climate for growing wine grapes. The beachfront towns and the breathtaking sunsets add to the experience.
One favorite attraction is the Silver Beach County Park at 101 Broad St. (269-982-0533) with 22 sandy acres of beach, a guarded swimming area on Lake Michigan, volleyball areas, pier fishing and a 0.5-mile walkway. The park also hosts outdoor concerts during the summer.

The charming beach town of South Haven has eclectic eateries, award-winning wineries, quaint boutiques and natural scenic surroundings. The Harbor Walk winds along the riverfront connecting the marinas to both South Beach and the downtown district. If you really want to stretch your legs head over to the Kal-Haven Trail, which starts on N. Bailey Ave. on the south side of the river. The 34-mile crushed stone rail-trail runs from to Kalamazoo, MI, where the trail meets the western endpoint for the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail.
