The attractive village is rich in history, culture and entertainment. Comedy shows, polo matches, concerts, block parties and festivals may be going on when you stop by. There are also parasailing and white-water rafting opportunities.
A center for shipbuilding during the War of 1812, the town has a nice park on the site of Sackets Harbor Battleground to commemorate U.S. defense forces. Pickering Beach Historical Museum and the Seaway Trail Discovery Center add to the historical nature of this town. Main Street offers provisions, restaurants, unique shops, art galleries and lodging. There are restaurants for every taste from brick oven pizza to steak and seafood, plus a coffee shop and a brewery.
