This heavily wooded Isle au Haut (pronounced “eye-la-HO”) Island, so named in 1604 by Samuel de Champlain, is 550-feet high and is part of Acadia National Park with miles of trails to explore. There is one main road in town and the only connection to the outside world is the privately run Stonington mail/passenger boat and private vessels.
