A Nansemond River Destination

If you’re cruising the Chesapeake Bay this summer put the new Bennett’s Creek Marina in Suffolk on your list of fun stops.

Five miles from the main channel of Hampton Roads across from Newport News Point, the new facility up Bennett’s creek has great docks, deep water, guest cottages and an outstanding restaurant on-site.

Decoys Seafood has become the talk of the town. Woodwork for the restaurant and marina facilities was all sourced and custom built from lumber where the development site was cleared. It’s simply fantastic.

There is a 360-degree Tiki bar and pool with al fresco dining next to the docks overlooking the scenic creek and wetlands. The pool has swim-up bar stools for hot summer days.

Bring the boat and stay the evening in one of four custom built cottages. A hot tub overlooks the creek for cool nights on the water.

Dredging of the mouth of Bennett’s Creek at the Nansemond River was completed by the Army Corp of Engineers in January of 2019.  Large vessels no longer must wait for high tide. A depth of  8-9 feet at MLLW assures all skippers safe passage into the channel, which was also widened to 35 feet at the mouth.  Bennett’s Creek flows north into the Nansemond River which feeds the James River where it meets Hampton Roads Harbor. Vessels traveling the Chesapeake Bay and moving north and south in the AICW are a short trip to tranquility.

Bennett’s Creek Marina can accommodate vessels up to 100’ and offers 60+ floating slips for transient, overnight and monthly docking. Sailboats take heed, there are power lines that prevent vessels with masts over 50 feet from safely transiting to the marina. Call the dockmaster for details.

Bennett’s Creek Marina weekends are full of live music and fun and they are ready to host. Set your course today.
