Clawing into 20-plus knot winds on a tiny sailboat for several long, consecutive days will test anyone’s
skills and stamina; doing it solo can turn an expedition into a challenging adventure. And that is just how my singlehanded exploration of
the Delmarva Loop began. In May, I left my safe harbor on the western shore of the middle Chesapeake Bay and headed south towards the Atlantic Ocean aboard S/V Base Camp, my 27-foot Pearson sailboat.
