The U.S. Coast Guard has marked two channels on either side of the Francis Scott Key Bridge to be used by essential commercial vessels only as work continues to clear wreckage debris. The announcement of these two alternate channels is only the beginning of a phased approach as the situation evolves. For now boaters should not enter the area and leave plenty of space for the recovery effort. If access to your boat is currently restricted, or you wish to pass into or out of Baltimore Harbor, please be patient and make other plans.
Recent reports indicate that the wreckage underwater, in and around the cargo ship Dali, is unstable and chaotic. The Baltimore shipping channel will partially reopen by the end of April according to an update from the Army Corps of Engineers.
