On the northern tip of Mustang Island is the cruising destination of Port Aransas. It is a picturesque charming beach and fishing community where you will encounter a laid-back island attitude with an abundance of warm hospitality. There are 18 miles of public beaches on Mustang Island, open for street legal vehicles as well as beach strollers. Port Aransas is home to a large population of dolphins, and there are several companies that offer boat tours to see them in their natural habitat. In the "Fishing Capital of Texas" you will also find birding and nature walks, a professional golf resort, art galleries, dining and shopping, museums and boat building.

Corpus Christi is a major seaport on the Gulf of Mexico at the mouth of the Nueces River. This cosmopolitan city, with all the expected amenities, is a choice destination for the GIWW cruiser. Downtown is an easy walk from the waterfront. You can jog, bike or simply meander along the 1.5 miles of path along the downtown seawall while taking in some great views of the water. The boardwalk usually has a delightful breeze, making it an ideal place for windsurfing and sailing. The white sandy beaches are easily accessible and open to the public. Corpus Christi is a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts and bird watchers. You can fish for redfish, trout, and flounder in the bay, or head out to the Gulf of Mexico for deep sea fishing. The area is also home to a variety of bird species, including the endangered Whooping Crane. The 180-acre South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center is home to a variety of plant and animal species, and features themed gardens, walking trails, and a butterfly house. The downtown area offers a variety of restaurants, bars, and live music venues. Corpus Christi also hosts a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, including the Fiesta de la Flor, which celebrates the life and music of Selena, and the Corpus Christi Jazz Festival.
