Draft: 5.5'We came through this bridge westbound. Nav alert said it was closed during day to mariners but when we called they said it was open.

Draft: 5.0'I hadn’t done my homework and didn’t realize there was a four hour wait. I anchored near shore in 9 feet on the west side of the bridge and called them to schedule a morning appointment for the next day. Actually enjoyed a very peaceful night. Lots of barges here but the passing tugs rarely caused any disturbance.

Vessel Type: Sail
LOA: 36'
Draft: 4.9'I called at 1:30 in the afternoon to schedule a 5:30 (approximate) opening. I was delayed at the Calcasieu Locks for 2 hours. I called the highway department office again to let them know my situation. They were extremely helpful. The staff they sent to the bridge for a 5:00 PM opening stayed until we finally arrived at 7:30 PM. I was very impressed with their service.

Vessel Type: Sail
LOA: 36'
Draft: 5.5'VERY IMPORTANT to realize that you have to call the bridge FOUR HOURS BEFORE ARRIVAL to arrange for someone to be there to raise it (800-752-6706). Otherwise, you have to sit and wait, the way I did. Also, bear in mind that cell phone reception is very patchy all around here, so plan ahead.
