In this stretch to Topsail Beach and beyond a wide expanse of channel and slough-threaded marsh separates the ICW from barrier beaches. Most of these small waterways dead-end inside the barrier beach dunes. (Watch for side-setting currents and shoaling where these meet the ICW.) Others provide access to small inlets and some are even deep enough for anchoring if you feel adventurous.
