Adams Creek and Core Creek are a busy part of the ICW. This section connects takes southbound boaters from the Neuse River to the Beaufort and Morehead City Area. Beaufort is well known as a transient stop with numerous marinas and service facilities that can handle the needs of cruisers, both power and sail. Morehead City is a renowned commercial and sportfishing center with a large fishing charter fleet year-round. Note that tides and currents now begin to be a major consideration as you proceed south on the ICW in close proximity to the coast.

Boating Destinations near the Adams Creek and Core Creek, NC
In Beaufort, the town is the culture and its seascape the canvas. A flourishing arts community of painters, photographers, sculptors and writers reside here, as evidenced by the numerous galleries, all within walking distance of the docks. The best way to see the town is by bicycle. Pedal through 300 years of history, past 18th and 19th century homes nestled behind white picket fences. To see the town from a different point of view, the popular Beaufort Ghost Walk covers approximately nine blocks and lasts around one hour. You will be entertained by pirate guides, who will regale you with an enjoyable assortment of chilling stories about ghost ships and haunted houses. Tours start at 108 Middle Ln. (252-772-9925).
For a change of scenery, take the dinghy to Rachel Carson Reserve for hiking and a chance to see a variety of wildlife and bird species including wild horses. Or take island Express Ferry Service (252-728-7433) to Cape Lookout or Shackleford Banks.
