Barkley Canal, KY

One unique feature of Lake Barkley is the 1.5-mile-long interconnecting canal between Lake Barkley (Cumberland River) and Kentucky Lake (Tennessee River).
Vessels on the Great Loop Route that chose to take the Cumberland River route cross over here and join the rest of the boats on the Tennessee River headed south.
The 170,000 acres between the lakes to the southeast is known as the Land Between the Lakes.
