Had a prop shaft pull out of the transmission coupling, and the support received from Holmes Marina (Frank & Joe) to repair us was outstanding. Knowlegeable, helpful, and accommodating - this is who i would call first if you need maintenance in this region. Travel Lift for up to 20 ton, and a beam not more than 14 feet. Spent the night at a transient slip and think we were the only ones there that night - total relaxation.

Although we were told that they don't have transient parking, the owner/manager put us in a recently vacated slip with 30 amp power that was conveniently close to the restrooms and shower. Cash only for payment. Extremely quiet at night, no wake at all. Lots of mosquitos on that wet August afternoon/evening. Restrooms were adequate but nothing special.
It was a bit of a walk into town for a restaurant and not much was open on a Monday, but we tried the Lake House at Sylvan Beach and it was good. The Maple Leaf Market in the opposite direction was a typical convenience store with some prepared food items and a sort of deli.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

This marina is well protected from the Erie Canal when it's windy. Beware of the snags and so on at the entrance. Cash only. Depending on where you are berthed, it can be a very long walk to the office and facilities, so we called the office and the dockmaster drove over to take our money. Berths are narrow, as are the finger piers. It was a good stop at the end of a long day and positioned us extremely well to make the run west across Oneida Lake early in the morning, which avoided some nasty weather later in the day.
