I can't say enough how helpful the owners were! After purchasing our 1996 Phoenix 29 Sportfish in Lake Charles La. we were bringing her home to Houma La., (200 mile easterly voyage on the Intracoastal). We were refused Diesel at Fuel Dock 192 because they only serviced commercial vessels,I phoned Morgan's Landing in Intracoastal City, 60 miles ahead at 5:00 pm Saturday only to find they closed at 3:00 pm but could meet me around noon Sunday. Way too long of a wait. I then called Big D, the owner told me to tie up to his fuel dock, his brother would fuel us up at 5:00 am. We tied up at 2:30 am after a 16 hour steam, napped on board, and awoke around 7:30 to fuel up. We noticed the bilge had considerable water in it and the bilge pump was throwing the breaker!
I asked to buy or borrow a pump from the owner, he not only let us borrow a hand pump, but insisted I take it with me! After a bit of haggling he asked for $20.00, I gave him $40.00. Great experience, I wish I had gotten his name to thank him publicly.
