We are doing the Great Loop aboard our 39' Mainship. Because of the Labor Day weekend our reservation at DuSable in Chicago did not begin until Tuesday. We looked on Waterway Guide and noticed Marina Shores. We wanted to add Indianna to our list of States while on the trip and decided to call and see if there was availability. We were surprised that yes they had room for us and that the price was very affordable. Understanding that Marina Shores was not centrally located to Shops and town we decided that it would make a good place to rest and to do a few chores on the boat.
I was surprised how nice the accommodations were. Great Docks, nice pool, free laundry, restaurant with good food and a band playing both Saturday and Sunday night. Fuel, both gas and diesel ship store with ice cream and pump included with the slip fee.. Yacht Club within dingy distance with great food on Friday just up the creek.
But best of all, the friendly people on the dock. I mean we were treated like part of the family. I can't stress enough how inviting the community at Marina Shores at Dune Harbor was.

We are on the early days of the Great Loop. We wanted to incorporate a few days on the outer banks and the light houses. Shallowbag Bay Marina is the perfect spot. Rental car, restaurants, grocery stores, hardware store all within walking distance. Shallowbag Bay Marina is the only marina that is attended in down town Manteo.. The Dockmaster Tim is super friendly and helpful, yeah he has a broken arm but he can still tie a line.

Bathrooms are nice good hot shower. We played pool and ping pong at the Lounge and game room. My son fussed every time he lost.

We did not eat at the restaurant on site but by the looks of the crowd it has to be good.

Only complaint is there was a ladder in the laundry room which blocked the door to one of the washers. I set it out in the hallway. That sucker was heavy, but the laundry got washed and the Admiral was happy.

I would stay here again, in fact one of those condos overlooking the marina would be awesome maybe in the next life. I plan to return as a rich.
