We came in with an engine issue and planned to spend the night. From the water you would never know what a true gem this marina/restaurant combo is. We were completely blown away and now rate it the very best marina we have visited on the AICW. Yes, and that includes the Safe Harbor Mega marina. The dockhands were waiting for us, and there was plenty of help. When was the last time you saw 6 dockhands, all very experienced? Everyone was very professional and the marina is a tight ship. 3/4 of the marina is actually behind the docks, so it is bigger than it looks. Some floating and some fixed docks.

The restaurant is over the top great. They were decorating for Christmas and the owner took time to speak with us as we ordered. Food was perfect, and we compared this to city restaurants from Va and DC. Bathrooms are remodeled and clean. If you are passing by, you should at least stop for food and fuel - prices are very reasonable. Big thank you to all those at Wacca Wache!

We came to this marina after our existing reservations fell through at the Lightkeeper's marina close by. Interesting little bay, packed FULL with a bunch of marinas. The entrance is marketed by a large prop style lighthouse that reminds you of the putt putt course lighthouses.
This was a great find, and we will go back. Great help on the VHF and it's nice when you see dockhands waiting for you. The fuel prices were great as was the private Officer's Club that allows slip holders and transients access. We had a long day, and this was just what we needed. Cool drinks and decent food. Maybe not gourmet level, but was still very nice and we enjoyed relaxing in a warm spot in November. Bathrooms were outdated but very clean. Really enjoyed the brief stay.

One of the best. Simple as that. It is not the cheapest, and we are not too pleased with the variable pricing based on inventory. We stayed just a few nights, but enjoyed every minute. Everyone was very accommodating. Best feature is the shuttle to town and restaurants. If you know the city, and the traffic at all hours, you know what a great thing it is to have the shuttle. We are a gas boat and really wish they had both gas and diesel. Dockmaster Elizabeth is plugged in and helped us when we needed a local move. As part of the SH family we can say this is a great one.

  • Marina Review for Safe Harbor Bristol

We just left SH Bristol after an extended stay and can recommend the marina to anyone. The docks are in good shape, and help shield your boat from the ever present river currents. Wide fairways! All the Ashley marinas fight this current, so just be ready for it. As many have shared, the Dockmaster Martin makes things happen, and has a wealth of knowledge for tides, and the Double Drawbridge specs. We came in at low tide, and with a powerboat it was easy clearing the bridges. This is a Safe Harbor marina, and our concierge black card was honored without even asking. Bathrooms could have been cleaner, but it was off season. The marina sits right next to town, so easy to walk to Publix and a few others. If you know Charleston, you know it is a city, with city traffic and rush hours. Be prepared to obtain transportation for anything over a few blocks.
