Rutledge met us upon arrival. Southern hospitality at its best! We had power, water, restrooms AND Carolina Seafood Company within vision. This is the BEST place we have stayed. It is a working marina. Third generation owner. They have fuel. To make reservations call them. We walked to Carolina Seafood Company and purchased shrimp. Later that afternoon Village Lady and Parker D arrived back from shrimping. I walked down and watched them unload and clean the boats. The dolphins know when they come in to hang out for dinner. It was spectacular to watch. This is my favorite so far along our journey. Also walked down the street to see a 1000 year old oak (Deerhead Oak). This was so awesome. Rutledge could not have been more accommodating. We did arrive at low tide. That is the most shallow water we have cruised. We were Blessed and did not have a problem. Stay on the north side as you enter the channel. I hope you enjoy this stop as much as we did ?

Will and Katy communicated with us prior to our arrival. Once we arrived gave detail instructions to approach our slip assignment. Will was the busiest I have ever seen. Lots of boats approaching at the same time and he was informative, patient, and kind in helping all of us get to our slips. Christian caught our lines and helped us enter the slip. Once arriving they have a shuttle to take you to West Marine, and the downtown area attractions and restaurants. Elle took us to Publix and gave us local information about things to see and do. Brandon picked up us and brought us back to the marina. Tyler picked us up from our tour and brought us back to the marina. Tyler took us to Hyman's Seafood Restaurant and gave recommendations on what to order. This marina is a five star establishment. They treat you like you are a MVP. Everyone here is "super" helpful!

Safe Harbor Beaufort Marina. This is a wonderful Marina. Michael and Mikka met us, caught our lines, helped us get docked. They hooked us to power, water, etc. The wind was quite high. They worked diligently to get us safely secured. They told us a little about the town, the festivals. This Marina is very close to the town, you can walk to restaurants. There is a beautiful walk along the water with swings so you can take time to enjoy the day. They do have showers. They have a ship store. Hats off to Michael and Mikka for their assistance in welcoming us to the Marina and helping us get docked. It is a beautiful place to stay.Period.

This was a great marina. When we arrived they met us at the dock and welcomed us to the marina. Provided all the information necessary about bathroom codes, showers, restaurants near the marina. We walked to Tubby's and had fish tacos and a cold beer. We also went in River Supply and picked up an anchor wash down hose. Showers and bathrooms were clean. The staff were extremely welcoming and southern hospitality was plenty.

Anchorage Review for South Altamaha River

Draft: 4.0'Overall Rating:Holding:Current Flow:Wake Protection:Scenic Beauty:Meridian 408, 4 ft. Draft, 35 lb. Delta plow anchor. This was an exciting Anchorage for us, as we just purchased our boat and this was our very first Anchorage.
We arrived near low tide. Anchored in 6 ft. of water. The tide went down about 2 more feet before swinging back to incoming. The anchor bit on the first try and held well all night. There was also a derelict boat in this Anchorage, but didn't bother us a bit.
The anchorage is beautiful, with plenty of room. The winds were calm, so I can't comment on protection. The current was pretty strong, but the anchor held. Also saw a georgous sunset and watched the sun rise the next morning. The coordinates where we anchored were North 31° 18.701 West 81° 24.44.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
