November 1, 2024. The visitor center is open at the published times, we visited today and it's definitely worth it, lots of history and neat to walk a replica Antebellum home. The lockmaster let us anchor here (ask first) and even let us get alongside the little (worn) dock, which made for a great night! Plenty of water (6-7 feet)

Nice free dock right before the lock. We tied a 46 foot boat to the end of the pier. Dock is a little rough but sturdy with good cleats. 3 or 4 acres of grass to walk a dog. Nice spot to stop if you have to wait for the lock. Snagboat and museum are still closed due to Covid.
