There is a long cement wall on the west side of the lock with bollards and rings set in concrete. The wall is in good shape.

This lock is adjacent to a limited services rest area on the NY Thruway. There are vending machines dispensing Made in NY products including sandwiches, snacks and promotional goods. The rest rooms are clean and well lighted. Fuel is not available here.

There is a playground for youngsters and large grounds for dog walking. Overall a pleasant and park like setting.

This dock offers a unique opportunity to closely observe the three major transportation routes through Upstate NY; highway, water, and rail. Fortunately, the dam across the river provides a white noise blanket to dampen the transportation symphony.

We did enjoy our brief overnight stay at Lock 13.
