Anchorage Review for Calcasieu River Oxbow

We needed a place to overnight to break up our trip. Some of the reviews were negative but we found it to be a perfect location. Great holding in the mud. Anchored in about 10'. We anchored close to the shore on the east side. Winds were gusting up to 20-24 knots until about 11:00. Died down until about 2:30 and came up again. We held fine. It was also a pretty location. Barges went by about 300' away but we heard no sound and were not affected by their wake. There are two entrances to approach from. We entered from the one further north east away from the shipping channel. Highly recommend this location.

Anchorage Review for Lafitte

In spite of some bad reviews we found this anchorage to be a great spot for our overnight stay. Very good holding in the mud. We were in 8-10' Protected from winds. Noisy with air boats until 6:00 pm. Air boat captains friendly and respectful of our anchoring.

Marina Review for Sabine Pass Port Authority Marina

We came in for a one night stay and due to a bow thruster fail ended up staying here for a week. Due to very high winds on day of arrival we could only get onto the wall at the parking area. The staff let us stay there entire time as we waited for repairs. Docks are very short so backing in is recommended. Power is 30 and 50 amp. After a two day stay the weekly rate is cheaper. $40.00 a night or $82.00 a week. Staff are incredibly friendly and will give you a ride to nearby locations. The shower and bathroom are clean and good. Staff wash the docks and are available until midnight. There is nothing here in the way of restaurants or things to do. There is a small gas station grocery store with a pizza shop.
