Anchorage Review for North Rocky Point

Draft: 5.3'Overall Rating:5Scenic Beauty:5Shore Access:5Cell Service:5We had no wind while at this anchorage, so it's hard to rate holding, wind protection or wake protection. It's a beautiful spot. You can easily land your dinghy on the island. Island has fire pits. We tried to cut through the 2 islands where Navionics and the Waterway Guide shows the anchor. We draw 5.3 at hit bottom. We backed out and went around at buoy R20 and saw no less than 6'.

There were about 6-8 boats already anchored. Public Dinghy Dock was close. A handful of Restaurants, a hardware store, laundromat, small grocery store all within walking distance. Nice anchorage behind the Island. Held well. Nice town. Lots of marinas in Onset.

We dinghy'd into the public dinghy dock. So much to do in this town. There are moorings randomly set out. The docks looked like working fisherman docks. We had great weather while we were there. The tourist whale watching vessels do come and go. We are a heavy boat and didn't feel it much at all.

It was currenty and windy, but we held just fine. The depth was 10' at high tide. I waited until day 2 to post a comment. We are the only one anchored here. You could fit about 3 boats. Public docks for a dinghy isn't awesome. The restaurants have decent dinghy docks.

We draw 5.3. Water is low this year. It indicated 5.5-6 (measured from the waterline) on our depth indicator. We anchored middle of channel. 2 barges have gone by and did not affect us. You could take a dog to shore to go to the bathroom, but really no access to anything else.
