Our anchor (88lb Rocna) held well and came up mud-free. Dock your dinghy at the public dock by the bridge--none of the other marinas and restaurants in the area allow transient dinghy dockage for a few hours. Make sure to see Airlie Gardens. It's beautiful.

This spot is pure evil. It could be a great wide-open anchorage if the conditions were calm, but we were here in 15-20kt winds from S to SW and it was quite unbearable. It is very unprotected and there were many, many wakes from fishing boats, as another reviewer described. We stayed here for three nights waiting for a weather window, and we couldn't wait to leave. We would only return if we were absolutely desperate. The only pluses are that it's close to an island for dog walking and a public dinghy dock with access to restaurants and Ace Marine Rigging & Supply. A better option is farther up at Taylor's Creek, if you can find a spot. No large grocery stores nearby, either way.

This is our "go-to" marina in the South Carolina area. We've stayed here twice and love it! They are conveniently located on the peninsula and offer a free shuttle service. The docks are well-maintained and they offer all of the usual services (fuel, laundry, etc.). There's a Publix supermarket within a reasonable walk and a mini-mart even closer. We use Captain's Choice for any boat repair services. All-in-all a perfect marina. Highly recommend!
