The renovations are nearly complete. We loved the individual bathrooms- perfectly updated and kept clean. There are lots of places to walk a dog and a dedicated dog area (not fenced). The bikes were in good condition and there were loads of places to cycle to. Restaurants, ice cream stores and West Marine were close by. Every staff member we met were friendly and informative. They were able to take us to the grocery store, help us with packages and were flexible when we wanted to move from a mooring ball to a slip. The laundry facilities are excellent too.

You have the scenic beauty of Carrot Island to the south and the convenience of Beaufort to the north. It was a quick dingy ride to the town dinghy dock by the kayaks. We enjoyed the Historic Coffee Grounds coffee shop which was about a ten minute walk away and perfect. You can sit out front if you have a dog even if it means bringing indoor chairs outside. We didn't try the closer coffee shops though. We looked for the wild horses on Carrot Island the evening we arrived but with no luck. They were there in the morning though, a little left of the beach. They were still there at 2 in the afternoon.

Anchorage Review for Card Sound Bridge (West)

We made sure to put mosquito nets up before sunset. It was windy when we stayed and this anchorage offered great protection from the North West, but I am sure bugs could be a problem if the weather is still. We found the dingy ride to Alabama Jacks magical as you go through a narrow, mangrove lined canal to get there.

Marina Review for 17th Street Yacht Basin at the Hilton Marina Hotel

We had a very comfortable night here. The dock master went out of his way to offer us a slip for the night and gave us a great welcome. The marina is next to the Hilton so we were able to use their restrooms (no shower). There is a Tiki hut next to the pool which serves drinks and bar food- two minute walk from our slip. It was a great atmosphere, but back at our slip it was very quiet.

We were able to stay here overnight before heading out of the channel. They made us very welcome and it was just one block to a great restaurant with outdoor seating. There is a park close by to walk your dog. The restroom and shower were well presented and clean. This is a working marina, but served our purposes well.

Well we did not receive a bottle of wine, but perhaps that is only for big boats! However, we were given help in and the restrooms/showers are clean and private. There is an area of grass close to the marina for dogs. It is just a short walk to The Farmers Table restaurant at the country club. Great food and covered patio(dog friendly). We look forward stopping here again.
