This is an ok spot to overnight. Be aware that the beach near this anchorage is part of the Coast Guard base and as such you are not allowed on it. This is a shame because it would otherwise make this a nice anchorage. You are also not allowed on the beach to the north of the inlet as that is also owned by the Coast Guard. I explored along both banks of the inlet because it looked, from the satellite map on google, like you might be able to get access near a bridge on the north shore but I wasn't able to find a spot to land.

Because of the lack of access to the shore near the base there is no convenient access to anything. On the other side of the inlet is a muddy beach near some sort of large commercial facility where you can take your dogs for a potty break. If you want access to Cape May you can dinghy about a mile to one of the restaurants that might be ok with you walking into town after you eat, otherwise I don't know any other access points to the town.

If you can get to land there are many restaurants, marine suppliers (including a West Marine) and a grocery store all within walking distance. The challenge is in finding a spot to land your dingy and go ashore.
