Called 3-4 days in advance to reserve a slip for our boat for about 6-8 weeks while we took a brief break from the Great Loop. Availability was confirmed, but when we called to see if we could come in a day early they refused to honor our reservation. Their reasons were it was a wooden boat and the only way they would even consider taking it is if we gave them a $5,000 security deposit. Their concern, they said, was that our intent was to abandon our boat at this marina. We have a vintage, beautifully restored 1967 Lyman that has already made it 4,000 miles around the Loop and we are looking forward to completing the Loop this fall. We were left scrambling around at the last minute to make reservations over a holiday weekend. Fortunately we found a wonderful marina with professional, experienced staff and we feel confident leaving our boat at Shady Harbor.

Stopped here to put our boat up for 6 weeks while we ran home in the middle of doing the Great Loop. Nick, the manager, and his staff are knowledgeable, professional and friendly. This is a full service marina, fuel, service department, wonderful restaurant on site with a beautiful view of the river, and a ships store complete with dairy meats and cheeses along with the usual snacks. Bathrooms are clean. Saw them being cleaned each day we were here. Could use a few extra hooks for clothing in the stalls. We feel very comfortable leaving our boat here knowing she will be well taken care of.

Stopped here to wait out the weather for our run to Cape May. The marina caters more to the recreational boater and locals who come in to party at the bar and get drunk. We were here over the weekend and the noise went on until after 1:00am, even on Sunday evening. A girl puked on my husband's shoes as he tried to make his way from our boat to the bathrooms. Mess still there in the morning. Bathrooms needed cleaning and where they are located is where all the drunk smokers hang out so you have to try to make your way through them to get to the door. The key pads are tricky. They don't light up until you run through a bunch of numbers first. For what we paid $2.75/ft over the weekend I would expect much better. Which is sad because there is a good restaurant on site, dock staff are very helpful and knowledgable and there's a quaint town to walk around in. If you are looking for quiet, restful stop this is not it.

Marina Review for Nomad Marinas at Norview Marina

Pulled in on a windy day. Radio call in said they'd have someone help us. No one came until after 5 attempts we tied ourselves up. Stood around until gas was pumped then took our money. Never came out to help us untie. Wind was blowing so hard at the boat away from the dock and I had trouble holding the boat to get on. Worse excuse for customer service ever!

Marina Response:
Dear Deborah,
Norview Marina would like to offer a sincere apology to the crew on board Winds of Change during your most recent unpleasant fueling experience.
Unfortunately, we were not adequately staffed when you arrived on May 4th. As you said, it was really windy that day and our on-duty dock hands were occupied assisting another vessel away from the fuel dock when you arrived.
We are actively recruiting additional crew at this time to ensure that we are more prepared for a busy season ahead.
Recently, Norview Marina was acquired by Galahad Marine Properties. The new team is highly focused on creating a better “guest experience”. We would love to have you back someday.
Thank you for your candid feedback.
Best Regards,
Bonita Leeks, Dock Master
