Family owned Zahnisers was acquired by Safe Harbor Marinas, a subsidiary of the Sun Communities REIT, sometime early 2020. I docked my boat there for the month of October 2019 on my sailboat cruise south, had my broken forestay replaced, and was satisfied with the work that was done in a timely fashion. Back from the Bahamas in 2021, I docked there again from June 1 - August 31 intending to have a list of maintenance items done. During these three months all they got done was the low hanging fruit: painting the bottom. My complaints to Sun Communities management resulted in them offering me dry storage until Spring 2021 at no cost and the promise to have the work done by then. Having lost confidence in Sun Communities management to cope with supply chain, hiring and training new workforce, I decided to take my boat elsewhere.

WBY came recommended to me after a bad experience at Safe Harbor Marina, Solomons island, MD (formerly Zahnisers). WBY did get some of the items on my list done, but at the end of the day, the quality of the work and the costs were a disappointment. Waterway Guide in the first sentence of an article stated (paraphrased): When facing major work on your boat, choose your repair shop wisely and work closely with them. As a transient and out of state during the repair work, you better accept that you are way behind the curve and have to play the cards that you are dealt.

05/04/2022. Pulled in because the spots at the City dock across the canal were taken. Docked at the inside West end floating dock for 1 $/ft/night, no shore power. Significant current - plan ahead, which side to tie up .

Observations from a stay on 05/05/2022:
The contact/dockmaster attached to the phone number 302-644-1869 and email [email protected] is (05/05/2022) John Lafferty. A voice message left was answered.
The dockage fee we paid as posted was $3/foot (not $ 2/ft). The 200 ft floating dock for transients is situated near the bascule bridge. Cars passing the bridge create considerable noise that abates during the night hours. The noise from the restaurant across the floating dock abated at reasonable night hours. From the 200 ft floating dock it's a hike to the bathroom facilities. These are closed for cleaning between 8 pm and 07:30 am. No internet wifi on the floating dock, the wifi signal near the office was too weak to enable a connection.
