A storm blew in off of the mainland at dusk and the wind & waves didn't stop all night (they still haven't stopped now @ 0800, either). The holding is excellent, though. We draw 5'1", so a we're a ways from the island, so a dinghy over would probably be an adventure in itself.

Mild westerly wind; location protected by the island. Very good holding in sandy bottom. Lots of crab pots to avoid and fisherman at sun up. Light boat traffic during the week.

Island has no bathrooms (composting toilets), can camp on island. As others have said, lot's of traffic on the weekends, but you can get far enough away that it has low impact (lot's of partiers during the weekend days on island). Watch out for crab pods across the anchorage! Overall, great spot to stop for the night going north/south on the Florida Gulf Coast.

During the night the wind shifted and increased to around 15-20 and we started dragging. After letting out more scope we slowed down but eventually had to move and reset the hook.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

We have been here four days. It is remote however good beach access to the South. A lighthouse is the high point on the island. Have had no problems with bugs although we’re set off the shore a half mile. Busy during the day with small fishing vessels but everyone has been keeping their distance. During the day the bay on the East side of the island is nice for honing your sailing skills. A nice place.

Most of the day we have a pleasant breeze. Bugs are intermittent. During the weekends this bay is full boaters. It takes a while to dinghy into the small town of Tarpon Springs, where you will find most anything you may need. Locals are friendly, Numerous Greek restaurants and many businesses are locally owned. A great place to visit.
