  It might be possible to anchor in here, but it is far more advisable to take one of the well-maintained mooring balls. ( Around 10-12 in the eastern harborage; 8-10 in the northern.) The rate is reasonable ($25/night as of March 2023) and it helps to support the community. Mike lives aboard Precocious and manages the moorings, coming by to collect the fee and also providing local knowledge and guidance about what to see and expect on the Cay. (He is not there year-round, however.) When entering Man o' War--either for the southeastern harbor (also referenced as the American harbor) or the north(western) harbor--take care to scan for vessels leaving. The short channel is tight and it would not be wise to try to fit two cruisers abreast here. Similarly, when leaving, keep an eye out for vessels entering. There is a shoal running from the north shore of the harbour, extending about halfway to the entrance. A piling provides an indication of the area to avoid. Once through the cut veer either east or northwest to one of the two mooring fields. There are relatively few "touristy" options on Man o' War. For prepared food, you can stop at the Snacky Shack near the lower public dock or most mornings go to the museum and cafe. There are no bars or liquor stores. The grocery is large and well-stocked with reasonable prices and a wide selection. The sail shop sells canvas tote bags, wallets, purses, etc. There is also a gift shop. The museum is well worth visiting to see how the original British settlers and their descendants (who still make up the majority of the residents on the island) lived through the past two and a half centuries. The Albury boat factory keeps their doors and windows open, so you can watch the activity in there. Here and there you will find examples of the handmade wooden boats the Alburys are known for. The beach on the north side of the island is beautiful: all sand in spots and rock outcroppings in others. The operative word for Man o' War Cay is "quaint". The residents are reserved but friendly. And on Sundays, you will find only the churches open.
